The NAC advised to hang up without words when calling strangers.
On December 17, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) advised hanging up the phone without words when calling from unfamiliar numbers so that fraudsters would not be able to use the caller's voice sample for criminal purposes.
"Don't tempt fate, put down the phone, don't even try to communicate. Because, as they said about artificial intelligence, a couple of your words are enough, which can then be used against you," said Andrei Przhezdomsky, an official representative of the NAC, at an online conference at the press center of the Rossiya Segodnya media group.
He added that if communication took place, but caused caution, it is necessary to immediately contact law enforcement agencies in order to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Earlier that day, it was reported that T-bank specialists had used artificial intelligence to identify a new fraudulent scheme in which attackers use information about the Hong Kong flu as the dominant strain in Russia. According to the bank, telephone scams in 2025 became the leader among deceptive schemes, ahead of investment scams.
