An Air Astana flight from Alma Ata to Astana made an emergency landing at the departure airport due to smoke on board. This was announced on December 17 by the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.

"According to the information provided by the Main Air Traffic Planning Center of the Kazaeronavigation State Enterprise, the crew of the aircraft announced a MAY-DAY distress signal due to smoke in the cabin of the aircraft," the Telegram channel said.
