- The Msta-S crew thwarted attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to approach the liberated Kupyansk
The calculation of the Msta-S artillery installation of the 121st motorized rifle regiment of the Zapad group of forces stopped the movement of groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) trying to approach the settlements of Moskovka, Radkovka and Sobolevka in the Kharkiv region. This was announced on December 17 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
During aerial reconnaissance, the operators of the unmanned systems troops unit noticed the movement of the AFU groups towards the liberated Kupyansk. After receiving the command, the crew of the Msta-S self-propelled artillery unit moved to the firing position, aimed and fired.
The safety of the installation's combat operation was ensured by air surveillance posts and mobile firing groups.
"We are working on the approach to Kupyansk. <...> We are doing everything so that the enemy does not approach, does not gather his forces, we are doing everything to neutralize the enemy, not to let them approach the city," said the commander of the gun with the call sign Sword.
According to the chief of artillery of the regiment with the call sign Brics, the main task of the artillery units is to isolate the combat area. He clarified that the military successfully held Moskovka, Radkovka and Sobolevka.
On December 16, Leonid Sharov, head of the press center of the Zapad group of forces, reported on attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to counterattack settlements near Kupyansk. It was noted that the Russian military confidently repels enemy attacks. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are suffering significant losses.
