Suzy Figgis, casting director of the first Harry Potter film, has died.
Renowned British casting director Susie Figgis, who led the casting of the first film in the Harry Potter franchise, has died at the age of 77. This was reported by the Deadline portal, citing sources.
Figgis' agent Paul Lyon-Maris confirmed the news of her death. He said that Figgis "died peacefully" on December 12, surrounded by her husband and daughter.
"Susie was a perfectionist who combined a cheeky sense of humor with a dedication to serious films and a respect for cinema and life, which made her a unique and outstanding partner. We will miss her laughter and biting wit, as well as her genius in finding the most talented actors for these impossible roles," producers Stephen Woolley and Elizabeth Carlsen shared in an interview with the publication.
Figgis has participated in such film projects as "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Alice in Wonderland," "Full Monty," "Sleepy Hollow," and "Gandhi." She also worked with actor and film director Richard Attenborough and film director Tim Burton.
