In New York, they said goodbye to composer Levon Oganezov

Farewell to the People's Artist of Russia, composer Levon Oganezov, took place on December 16 in White Plains, New York.

According to TASS, members of the composer's family and their loved ones gathered at the event.

Oganezov's funeral will be held at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York. Kensico also houses the grave of composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The composer's death as a result of kidney cancer became known on December 14, he died at the age of 85. Oganezov was an Honored Artist of the USSR, a laureate of numerous music awards and a recognized master of classical and jazz music.

On December 15, poet Larisa Rubalskaya celebrated the composer's kindness and gift. She stressed that Oganezov eventually became a family for those who knew him, and expressed her condolences to his family.
