The Ministry of Industry and Trade will study the proposals of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) on changes in trade legislation. This was reported to Izvestia on December 16 by the ministry's press service.
"The Ministry of Industry and Trade has received the letter from the Federal Antimonopoly Service and will consider it in due course. Currently, the Ministry's proposals on changes to trade legislation are under interdepartmental discussion and will be analyzed jointly with interested federal authorities and market participants. All decisions will be made based on the results of the stipulated discussion procedures within the legal framework," the ministry said.
They also noted that the work on the analysis and revision of trade regulation is being carried out on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he announced during his speech at the SPIEF plenary session.
"The approaches formed in accordance with the instructions are aimed at equalizing the conditions between offline and online trading by eliminating regulatory distortions," the ministry stressed.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the FAS had sent requests to ten major federal retail chains to find out the reasons for the price increases for certain food products. It was clarified that the analysis revealed cases of high margins on individual products in some networks.
