The expert spoke about the growth of maternity and new payments to families with children in 2026

Maternity payments and support measures for families with children will increase significantly in Russia in 2026. This was announced by Nikita Chaplin, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia faction.

According to the parliamentarian, the maximum amount of maternity benefits next year will increase by almost 20% compared to 2025.

"If in 2023 the maximum benefit was 383 thousand rubles, then in 2026 it will reach 955 thousand rubles. And with multiple pregnancies, the payment will exceed 1.3 million rubles," Chaplin said.

The MP stressed that the increase in payments was made possible by increasing the marginal base for calculating insurance premiums and maintaining the principle of official employment as a key condition for receiving the full amount.

"Two years of legal work experience is enough for maternity leave to be calculated based on the total average earnings. This is a fair system that encourages honest work," he explained.

Nikita Chaplin also drew attention to the support of female students. He recalled that starting in September 2025, the maternity allowance for full-time students amounts to 100% of the regional subsistence minimum, which on average exceeds 90 thousand rubles and significantly improves the situation of young mothers.

In addition, other payments will be indexed in 2026.

"The one—time allowance for the birth of a child will increase, the maternity capital will increase, and for families with two or more children, a new family tax payment will be introduced, allowing for the return of a portion of the personal income tax paid," the deputy said.

The parliamentarian noted that the combination of these measures will reduce the financial burden on families in the first year of a child's life and will become an important factor in supporting fertility and sustainability of young families.
