The maximum deposit rate in rubles increased to 15.63% in December
In Russia's largest banks, the average maximum interest rate on ruble deposits has increased to 15.63%. This became known on December 16 from a press release on the website of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
"The results of monitoring in December 2025 of the maximum interest rates on deposits in Russian rubles of 10 credit institutions attracting the largest volume of deposits from individuals: I decade of December — 15.63%," the publication says.
According to calculations for the previous month, the rate in the last decade of November was 15.62% per annum. Thus, the growth in December was 0.01%.
When determining the maximum average interest rate, the maximum deposit rates available to any client, including potential ones, were taken into account. Dynamic rates and those that can be obtained by fulfilling certain conditions of the bank are not taken into account.
On December 15, the State Duma (State Duma) allowed the Central Bank to reduce the key rate at the upcoming meeting. Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the State Duma's Financial Market Committee, expects that the key rate will continue to decline in 2026.
