Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the military personnel of the Zapad group of forces on the liberation of Novoplatonovka in the Kharkiv region. The corresponding message was published on December 16 by the Russian Ministry of Defense in its Telegram channel.

"Since the first days of the special military operation, courageous and selfless tank soldiers have been fulfilling their military duty to protect the people and our land from the enemy," Belousov's congratulatory telegram was conveyed in the ministry.

He also noted that in all areas, "the soldiers of the regiment showed unparalleled courage, heroism and dedication," and declared eternal memory of those who died defending Russia.

Earlier that day, the Russian military liberated the settlement of Novoplatonovka. According to the ministry, the enemy's losses amounted to more than 220 military personnel and four armored combat vehicles. 18 vehicles, three artillery pieces, an electronic warfare station and three ammunition depots were also eliminated.

Before that, on December 14, it became known about the liberation of the village of Varvarovka in the Zaporizhia region. According to the Ministry of Defense, during the fighting, the manpower and equipment of two assault brigades, two regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade and a defense brigade were defeated in the areas of seven settlements.
