The Children in Runet Award was held at the Pashkov House
On December 14, in Moscow, at the Pashkov House, a solemn ceremony of awarding the "Children in Runet" award was held in the format of a special Runet Award track. The award was established by the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment and is aimed at supporting initiatives that create a safe, responsible and developing Internet space for children, adolescents and their families.
During the ceremony, the winners in three main categories were announced.
"The Future of the Internet" is a nomination for teenagers from 14 to 18 years old. The winner is the MediaGuard project. The project is a chatbot that helps children and teenagers enhance their digital literacy in a game format.
"Our project is aimed at children and teenagers. It was important for us to make the project so that learning the intricacies of cybersecurity would be interesting and easy. We are confident that winning the Children in Runet award will give a new round of development to our project," said Elena Pogorelova, a representative of the MediaGuard project.
"Digital Family Security" is a family nomination in which board games that enhance digital literacy were presented. The winner is the Maskaev family, the board game project "Secret Agent Internetych".
"We have a big family and we really like to come up with joint activities. That's how the cybersecurity game was born. We know firsthand what threats children can face online. The expert jury's recognition of our game as the best is a great help in order to scale our project and turn it from a family project into a federal one!" said Polina Maskayeva, a representative of the Secret Agent Internetych project.
"Online Security Lessons" is a nomination for teachers and educational institutions. The winner is KIBERone, the first International Cyber School of the Future for the new IT generation, with a thematic lesson "KIBERone. Dangerous groups on the Web."
"Cybersecurity issues are a priority for our school, and we spend a lot of resources on improving digital literacy among our students and beyond, realizing that this is the key to their safety in the online space," said Maria Zivtin, director of the KIBERone network of IT schools in Moscow.
Also, within the framework of the award, a special nomination "Prevention of online threats: a methodological guide of the year" was awarded, in which the project of the St. Petersburg Academy of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education named after K. D. Ushinsky with methodological recommendations "Online recruitment of teenagers: preventive work at school" received the award.
"Education is the foundation being laid today for building tomorrow. Our main task is to provide children with a safe environment of the present and the future. In the digital age, special attention is paid to issues of information security and education of competent behavior in the virtual space from the very first steps of a child. The methodological development created by the St. Petersburg APPO team of authors specifically for teachers is devoted to these issues," said Andrey Bogdantsev, Acting Rector of St. Petersburg APPO.
The Children in Runet Award has become an important platform for the exchange of best practices in the field of digital literacy and Internet security.
"Today, more than ever, it is important to support initiatives that help children, adolescents and their families safely and consciously interact with the digital environment. It is such projects that shape the responsible future of the Runet," added Elizaveta Belyakova, Chairman of the Alliance for the Protection of Children in the Digital Environment.
