The State Duma (State Duma) at its plenary session approved a bill that sets a new memorable date in Russia — April 19 — as the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the genocide of the Soviet People committed by the Nazis and their allies during the Great Patriotic War. A live broadcast from the meeting was posted on December 16 on the website of the State Duma.

The bill was submitted to the State Duma by a group of deputies in November. They proposed declaring April 19 the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People, organized by the Nazis and their accomplices during the 1941-1945 war.
