The prosecutor's office of the city of Polyarnye Zori (Murmansk region) conducted an investigation into the violation of the rights of a teenager. A young man got burned because of a hogweed.

The incident occurred in July in the village of Afrianda. The teenager was walking on the grass near an apartment building on Komsomolskaya Street and was in contact with a hogweed that grew along the sidewalk. Soon, the child developed burn blisters and itching, writes the Bi-port news agency.

The teenager's parents went to a medical facility. The child was diagnosed with a burn of the left shin.

The staff concluded that the injury was due to the inaction of the executive body. Measures to combat hogweed were not carried out, municipal control was not carried out properly.

A statement of claim demanding compensation for moral damage has been submitted to the administration.

Starting from March 1, 2026, new liability measures for land owners will come into force in Russia. For non-compliance with the requirements for the destruction of hogweed, a fine of up to 700 thousand rubles is possible.
