Scammers gain access to the phone screen under the guise of an employer or a security officer. This was announced on December 16 in the Telegram channel of the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

According to the scheme, criminals ask the victim to turn on a screen demonstration and show personal chats on social networks or instant messengers, privacy settings and active sessions, as well as location through mapping services.

By such actions, scammers convince an employee that he must demonstrate his loyalty to management or lack of ties with competitors.

"Thus, under the guise of a formal procedure, attackers gain real—time access to correspondence, account data, geolocation, and account authorization codes," the agency concluded.

The UBK of the Russian Interior Ministry reported on December 8 that fraudsters began disguising themselves as employers, offering "dream jobs" and luring citizens out of personal data and financial information. It was noted that the scheme starts with a tempting offer of remote work without experience and with a high daily income. The department noted that when an applicant asks for the INN and the legal address of the company, the "manager" refuses, turning to pressure and threats.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
