Herring is the most beloved fish among Russians. This was announced on December 16 by the head of the All-Russian Association of Fisheries Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters (VARPE), German Zverev.

"Herring comes first, then salmon, then cod, mackerel and pollock," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
