- Politico learned about the desire of 45% of Germans and 37% of French to reduce financial support for Ukraine
The number of Germans and French who want to reduce financial support for Ukraine exceeds the number of those who want to increase it. This was reported on December 15 by the newspaper Politico, citing a study conducted by him.
"In France and Germany, the two largest democracies of the European Union (EU), a new poll shows that the majority of respondents want their governments to cut financial aid to Kiev," the publication says.
Thus, almost half of the German citizens surveyed (45%) were in favor of reducing financial assistance to Kiev, while only one fifth (20%) were in favor of increasing it. At the same time, 37% of French respondents also indicated the need to send less funds to Ukraine, while only 24% indicated the need to send more.
Those opposed to supporting Kiev explained their position by their concerns about increasing pressure on the national economies of their countries.
The study, as explained in the publication, was conducted at the beginning of this month. It was attended by 10,000 people who are citizens of five countries.
The Bild newspaper reported on December 13, citing a study by the INSA institute, that the German population's support for the ruling coalition continues to decline. According to the publication, the government's approval rating currently stands at 38%.
