Rescuers are actively patrolling rivers and reservoirs in Moscow.
Rescuers in Moscow have switched to an enhanced patrol mode of urban rivers and reservoirs to prevent possible accidents. This was announced on Monday, December 15, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.
According to him, employees of the search and rescue service at the water facilities are constantly monitoring the situation, as ice has begun to form in the waters, which remains fragile. He urged residents of the capital to be careful not to go out on the ice and carefully monitor children and pets while walking by the water, the website notes. kp.ru .
The official clarified that currently ice with a thickness of 0.5 to 5 cm is formed in inland bodies of water, including Sadovy Pond, Lake Bezdonnoye, Terletsky, Borisov, Tsaritsyn, Lyublinsky, Shibaevsky and Meshchersky ponds, as well as Lake Shkolnoye in Zelenograd. At the Khimki reservoir, the ice thickness reaches 2.5 cm, while the Moskva River remains ice-free. The ice in the reservoirs of the TINAO is up to 1 cm, writes "Moscow 24".
Biryukov added that rescuers regularly measure the thickness of the ice, paying special attention to places of unauthorized access to the ice, winter swimming and fishing. Hovercraft are used for patrolling — more than 25 pieces of equipment are involved, capable of moving through water and ice at a speed of 50-80 km/ h.
He also recalled that water safety in Moscow is provided by employees of 25 search and rescue and one fire rescue station of the Moscow City Search and Rescue Service at water facilities, which employs more than 500 specialists, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
