The leaders of the European states expressed their readiness to take legal obligations to protect Ukraine in the event of possible attacks in the future, including involving the armed forces. This is stated in a joint statement by the leaders of the European countries following the Berlin talks, which was published on December 15 on the website of the Swedish government.

"A legally binding obligation in accordance with national procedures to take measures to restore peace and security in the event of a future armed attack. These measures may include the armed forces," the statement said.
