- Putin extended the ban on the supply of oil and petroleum products to Russia under the price ceiling
Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended the ban on the supply of Russian oil and petroleum products at set marginal prices until June 30, 2026. The relevant document was published on December 15 on the official Internet portal of legal information.
According to the document, amendments are being made to presidential decree No. 961 dated December 27, 2022 "On the application of special economic measures in the fuel and energy sector in connection with the establishment by some foreign countries of the maximum price for Russian oil and petroleum products."
In mid-September, the Japanese Ministry of Trade, Economy and Industry announced that the country was lowering the threshold for importing crude oil from Russia from $60 to $47.6 per barrel. In addition, Japan has imposed restrictions on payments and capital transactions, and special permits will now need to be obtained to make them.
