Lavrov said about Europe's use of the Ukrainian conflict

The European Union (EU) is using the Ukrainian conflict to confront the United States and all supporters of a peaceful settlement. The corresponding statement was made on December 15 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Unfortunately, Europe is once again trying to dictate its terms and desires to everyone, which are externally related to the Ukrainian crisis. She is using the Ukrainian crisis to assert herself, to "put sticks in the wheels" and plot against the United States and all those who want a just settlement," RIA Novosti quoted Lavrov as saying in an interview with Iran's State Television and Radio corporation.

A regular meeting of representatives of the United States, Ukraine and the EU will be held in Berlin on December 15.

On December 11, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called on Europe to increase military spending to "fight Russia." He noted that many countries remain complacent and do not realize the urgency of what is happening. Rutte also stressed that states should continue to "exert pressure on Russia and support efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine."

On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on December 11 that Russia and the United States had been able to resolve misunderstandings after the Anchorage summit thanks to recent talks in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Witkoff. The Minister stressed that Washington is showing interest in a real analysis of the causes of the Ukrainian crisis, Russia and the United States have fixed common approaches to the Ukrainian settlement.
