Nizhny Novgorod resident, who made dolls from dead children, extended compulsory medical treatment

Nizhny Novgorod local historian Anatoly Moskvin, who dug up dead children in cemeteries and made dolls from their remains, was extended compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital. This was reported to Izvestia in court on December 15.

The meeting, which considered the presentation of the chief physician of the medical institution, was held in closed session.

Moskvin was detained in 2011. During a search of his apartment and garage, the mummified bodies of more than 20 girls and girls were found, which he dug up from cemeteries. Moskvin called himself a "necropolist scientist," sewed clothes for corpses and created dolls out of them.

Investigators opened a criminal case under the article on the abuse of the bodies of the deceased, later the man was declared insane and sent for compulsory treatment with a diagnosis of congenital paranoid schizophrenia. In 2022, the court also declared Moskvin incompetent.

On December 9, a court in Moscow approved the punishment of life imprisonment in a penal colony for the maniac Vladimir Mirgorod.

At the end of 2004, Mirgorod was arrested for rape and robbery, and in January 2005 he was sentenced to six years in prison. In July 2010, the criminal was released from prison, but in October he was arrested again after he told casual acquaintances while drinking alcohol about the murders. On January 30, 2012, the murderer was sentenced to life imprisonment.

In August 2024, the criminal was charged with five more counts of murder. It was noted that following the results of the molecular genetic examinations, the involvement of Mirgorod in the commission of these crimes was established. During the interrogation, he admitted his guilt. On March 31, 2025, investigators completed the investigation of the maniac strangler.
