The economist predicted the movement of the ruble exchange rate this week

This week, we should expect ruble quotes to consolidate in the range of 75-82 rubles per dollar, 89-96 rubles per euro and 10.80–11.50 rubles per yuan. Spartak Sobolev, head of the Alfa-Forex Investment Strategy Research Department, told Izvestia about this on December 15.

On December 15, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation set the exchange rate of the American currency at 79.7 rubles, the European currency at 93.5 rubles, and the Chinese currency at 11.2 rubles. At the same time, according to the Moscow Exchange, on December 15, the yuan is also trading at 11.2 rubles.

Non-political factors are leading the way among the reasons for the strengthening of the Russian currency

"Locally, the expectation of a reduction in the Central Bank's key rate may put pressure on the exchange rate, the effect of this factor manifested itself a week earlier. In mid—December, the main support for the ruble continues to come from an increased supply of foreign currency due to the stability of the country's trade surplus," Sobolev said.

Yuri Moseikin, Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of National Economics at the Patrice Lumumba RUDN University of Economics, said on December 5 that the downward trend in the dollar exchange rate could end before the end of this year. According to the expert, the growth of the dollar will be influenced by two factors — the expectation of an increase in imports after changes in geopolitics and the need to replenish the budget.
