Activists of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) paid tribute to the memory of journalists who died in the performance of their professional duties. Among them are Izvestia correspondents Alexander Fedorchak, Alexander Martemyanov and Semyon Eremin. The December 15 footage is published by Izvestia.

"They were trying to show the whole truth <...> shelling of the civilian population of Donetsk, and sometimes some lives were saved. Due to the fact that they showed the shelling on time, people could stay at home or go some other way and not come under repeated fire," said Sergey Martemyanov's father.

The head of the young guard of United Russia in the DPR, Sergei Dobrovolsky, noted the fearlessness of the war correspondents, with whom they covered the events taking place in the region.

"The people who died at the place of military contact, fulfilling their journalistic duty, the people who are dying now in peaceful cities, they did not undergo special military training. They don't have any skills, they only have a sense of duty to their country," he shared.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in her address on the Day of Remembrance of Journalists Killed in the Line of Duty, said that Kiev and its Western patrons should assume responsibility for the killings of journalists and military personnel during the conflict in Ukraine. She also mentioned the names of journalists who have died in recent years while performing their professional duties, including Izvestia military commanders Sergei Eremin, Alexander Fedorchak and Alexander Martemyanov.
