A noticeable change in weather conditions is expected in the capital region this week with the transition to a thaw. On Tuesday night, light snow is possible in the western half of the region, but the temperature in Moscow will be -4...-6 degrees, and in the region — up to -8. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on December 15.

"On Tuesday afternoon, precipitation will begin during the passage of a warm atmospheric front, icy conditions and temperature increases are possible. The maximum values in the afternoon will reach 0...+2 degrees in Moscow and -2...+2 in the region," the forecaster said.

No significant frosts are expected in the following days. Nighttime temperatures will range from -2 to +3 degrees, and daytime temperatures will range from -1 to +4.

The air temperature will be about five to six degrees above the climatic norm, and such a thaw period, according to forecasters, will last until the end of the calendar week.

Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather center, reported on December 13 that on the night of December 12-13, the lowest temperature since the beginning of the autumn-winter season was recorded in Moscow: the thermometer dropped to -5.8 degrees at the VDNKh station.
