Excessive consumption of mayonnaise in New Year's salads can negatively affect your health, so it should be replaced with more healthy dressings. Dmitry Bystrov, Associate Professor of the Department of Food Industry, Hotel Business and Service at ROSBIOTECH University, explained on December 15. "Газете.Ru ".
"Mayonnaise is not recommended to be consumed in large quantities due to its high calorie content, negative impact on health and the presence of controversial ingredients in the composition. The product can be harmful due to fats and trans fats that can accumulate on the walls of blood vessels, in the liver and pancreas, preservatives and flavor enhancers that can cause allergic reactions and disrupt the intestinal microflora, as well as allergies to eggs or intolerance to this ingredient," the expert said.
According to him, in a number of salads, mayonnaise can be replaced with natural or Greek yogurt, 15% sour cream, hummus or sauces based on them. These dressings are lower in calories and are suitable for vegetable, chicken and bean salads, but they are not always combined with fish or cabbage.
"Mashed avocado with lemon juice and a pinch of salt can replace mayonnaise in salads with shrimp, fish, and chicken. It gives a creamy texture and healthy monounsaturated fats," said Bystrov.
