After the shooting incident at Brown University, the leadership of the educational institution decided to cancel most of the exams of the last semester of 2025. This was reported on the university's website on December 14.

"After extensive discussions with the academic and teaching leadership of all faculties, we have decided to cancel all remaining full—time exams for the fall semester 2025 courses at all schools, with the exception of the Warren Alpert Medical School and the IE Brown Executive MBA program at the School of Professional Studies (SPS)," the publication says.

The deadline for other students' final papers may also be extended due to the incident.

"Students can, at their discretion, complete the course and receive a final grade based on papers submitted before December 13, without any penalties for papers that were originally supposed to be submitted after December 13, but were not submitted," the university offered one of the options for resolving the situation.

The shooting at Brown University became known on December 13. According to CNN, at least two students were killed and nine others were injured in the attack.

The next day, the police detained a man who may be linked to the attack. The identity of the suspect and the circumstances of his detention have not been clarified.
