Netanyahu criticized the Australian government after the terrorist attack in Sydney
The Australian Government and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have taken insufficient measures to counter terrorism and anti-Semitism, which led to the terrorist attack against Jews in Sydney. This was announced on December 14 by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"Your government has done nothing to stop the spread of anti-Semitism in Australia. You have done nothing to curb the cancer cells that have been growing inside your country. You haven't taken any action. You allowed the disease to spread, and the result was the horrific attacks on Jews that we saw today," Bloomberg quoted Netanyahu as saying.
He added that Australia's decision to recognize a Palestinian state "adds fuel to the fire of anti-Semitism" and encourages those who promote hatred of Jews.
Later in the press conference, Albaniz refused to answer a question about his Israeli counterpart's statements.
"Now is the time for national unity. Now the Australians need to unite. That's exactly what we're going to do," the Australian politician declined to comment.
