Trump announced his intention to build the Arc de Triomphe in the United States
US President Donald Trump announced plans to build the Arc de Triomphe in Washington, which will be located next to the Arlington Bridge and Arlington National Cemetery opposite the Lincoln Memorial. He made such a statement on December 15 at the White House, in the Oval Office, in front of sponsors and visitors.
"We are building an arch, like the Arc de Triomphe. It will be located at the Arlington Bridge, next to the Arlington National Cemetery, opposite the Lincoln Memorial. It's going to be something really special. It will look like the Parisian arch, but to be honest, it will surpass it — surpass it in every sense," Trump said.
The President stressed that the new arch will be unique for the United States.
"Nothing can compare to this. It is the only city in the world with such great importance that still does not have a Triumphal Arch. You know what I mean. This arch will outshine all the others. The most famous of them is the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, and I think we will surpass it by a wide margin," he said.
According to him, the building will be a symbol of Washington's historical significance and will become one of the main architectural attractions of the capital.
Earlier, on December 3, it was reported that the statue of American leader and financier Jeffrey Epstein, more than 300 cm high, was returned to Capitol Hill in the United States. It was clarified that during the dismantling, part of the statue was broken and the hands of Trump and Epstein were no longer connected.
