President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko handed over gifts for US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania. This was reported on December 14 by the Belarus 1 TV channel.
"Our president has prepared something for the first couple of the USA. For Melanie, it's a sophisticated piece of jewelry, our Belarusian cornflowers," they said on the air.
The Belarusian leader has prepared an Orthodox icon for the owner of the White House.
"This is our Christian icon. It's very valuable in America. And Trump has great respect for this [saint]. Nikolai," Lukashenko said.
The valuables were handed over to the American side during the visit of the US Special Envoy to Belarus John Cole on December 12.
Lukashenko met with the American delegation led by Cole on December 12. It is specified that the meeting was traditionally held in a closed format. Following the talks, the diplomat announced that the United States was lifting sanctions against Belarusian potash producers.
