The terrorist attack that took place during Hanukkah celebrations at Bondi Beach in Sydney is horrific. This was announced on December 14 by US President Donald Trump, speaking at a Christmas reception at the White House.
"There was a terrible terrorist attack in Australia: 11 dead and 29 seriously injured. This was obviously an anti-Semitic act. I want to express my condolences to all the victims," he said.
Trump also mentioned separately a "very, very brave man" who got into a fight with one of the shooters and, having been seriously injured, saved many lives, expressing great respect for him.
On December 14, criminals opened fire on people near Bondi Beach in Sydney during an event dedicated to the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. As a result of the incident, 12 people were killed and 29 others were injured. One of the armed criminals was shot dead, and the second was treated.
New South Wales State Police Commissioner Mol Lanyon said the shooting on a Sydney beach qualifies as a terrorist attack. Previously, at least 1,000 people had gathered on the beach at the time of the attack. After the shooting in Sydney, Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog called on the Australian government to take measures to combat the wave of anti-Semitism.
