A teenager from the US state of Texas, being in an unstable state, shot his ex-girlfriend's mother, as well as her younger brother and sister, CBS News reported on December 14.

Upon arrival, the police found the bodies of three people in the apartment: 39-year-old Jessica Rodriguez, her nine-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. Law enforcement officers called the shooting a targeted "cowardly act of violence."

The suspect, a 15-year-old American, fled the crime scene, but the police detained him about 40 minutes later.

Police Chief Mike Gehrke did not specify whether the suspect's ex-girlfriend was at home. However, he reported that the girl was alive and had no injuries. The motive of the crime is being investigated, and the police are investigating the circumstances.
