The corruption scandal in Ukraine has become a serious blow to the country. This was stated on December 14 by the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, in an interview with the German ZDF channel.

"Everything is very bad. To be honest, this (corruption scandal — Ed.) is a serious blow to the whole of Ukraine," the online publication Strana quoted him as saying.

According to Klitschko, such scandals destroy trust in the Kiev regime both on the part of Ukrainians and on the part of Kiev's allies.

On December 10, US President Donald Trump pointed out the widespread nature of corruption in Ukraine. The American leader also expressed doubts about the observance of democratic procedures in the country.

On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) revealed a money laundering scheme in the country's energy sector, through which about $100 million passed. At that time, seven people were charged, including businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme).

On December 2, it became known that Ukraine expressed disappointment with the corruption scandal. According to one of the local residents, the words about the alleged ignorance of the heads of the Kiev regime about the situation with corruption in the country "are just making citizens laugh."
