The icon of St. Fyodor Ushakov stopped the splinter at the paratrooper's heart
The laminated icon of the holy righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov saved the life of a soldier of the 11th Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade by stopping a fragment near the heart. Priest Maxim, assistant to the commander of the brigade for work with believers, told about this on December 14.
"She was near his heart. The fragment flew in, and it was stuck in this laminated piece of paper. He was supposed to stitch, but he stopped in the image of Fyodor Ushakov," the priest said.
According to Father Maxim, military personnel are often helped by other items with religious symbols, such as chevrons depicting saints or crosses, which also have fragments stuck in them. The priest stressed that many soldiers turn to faith in combat conditions, and he knows many such cases of miraculous preservation of life.
On January 19, Russian paratroopers from the Dnepr group of forces took part in the Epiphany service in one of the chapels of the Kherson region, and also plunged into the ice hole. After the end of the festive service in the chapel, the water was consecrated by military priests. All interested military personnel, both Orthodox and professing other religions, were able to plunge into the Baptismal font.
