The Russian army blocked the withdrawal of the remnants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Seversk to the DPR

The troops of the Russian Yuzhnaya group established fire control over the Seversk–Slavyansk highway, cutting off the escape routes of the remnants of Ukrainian units from the city. This was announced on December 14 by the group's intelligence officer.

"Due to the fire control of the main routes from Seversk and the prevailing bad weather conditions, the enemy cannot use dirt roads to retreat, the remnants of small Ukrainian groups are blocked," the officer said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is specified that the Ukrainian group in Slavyansk is deprived of the opportunity to provide assistance to the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreating from near Seversk. Any movement along a controlled highway is immediately stopped by artillery fire and drone strikes.

On December 11, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin received a detailed report on the liberation of Seversk by the Russian Armed Forces. The meeting was attended by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Sergei Medvedev, Commander of the Southern Group of Troops, and Denis Pirogov, Commander of the 123rd Motorized Rifle Brigade.

According to expert Alexei Yaroshenko, the population of Seversk has been waiting for liberation for many years, and now civilians are celebrating their return to Russian control.
