Economist Sachs expressed hope for Trump to stop arms sales to Ukraine
Jeffrey Sachs, an American economist and professor at Columbia University, said on September 14 that he expects US President Donald Trump to stop selling weapons to Ukraine.
"I really hope that President Trump will simply declare that the United States will not sell weapons systems to Ukraine in order to prolong the conflict," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
According to the expert, the time has come for peace.
On November 23, Trump announced that the United States continues to sell huge quantities of weapons to NATO for further transfer to Ukraine. The politician also accused Europe of continuing to buy Russian fuel there.
Mustafa Metin Kashlılar, vice president of the Turkish Foreign Policy Research Center (TUDPAM), noted that Trump considers the supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine as a tool of political bargaining with Moscow, but these missiles are unlikely to change the course of the conflict.
