Journalist Bertolasi spoke about the love of Italians for Russia
Most of the Italian people love Russia, despite the Russophobic position of their government. This was reported on December 14 by independent Italian journalist Eliseo Bertolasi, who has been covering the conflict in Donbas since 2014.
"Look at the level of Russophobia, look at the decisions of our policy, but the majority of the Italian people continue to love Russia," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Bertolasi recalled that during the tragedy at the Crocus City Hall concert hall and the murder of publicist Daria Dugina, ordinary Italians brought flowers en masse to the Russian embassy and consulate.
"They came to the embassy, to the consulate of the Russian Federation, just to leave these flowers," the journalist drew attention.
On December 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Bertolasi and President of the Help Us Save the Children Association, Honorary citizen of Beslan Ennio Bordato, Russian citizenship.
On October 24, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova invited singer Alla Pugacheva and other Russians who had left the country to read Bertolasi's book "The Conflict in Ukraine through the Eyes of an Italian Journalist." According to her, familiarization with the journalist's work will allow them to get a more accurate picture of the real situation.
