- The person who monitored the naval facilities on behalf of Ukraine has a mental disorder
Artem Ishchenko, accused of spying on the facilities of the Leningrad Naval Base on behalf of Ukraine, has mental disorders. This became known on December 14 from court materials.
"According to the man's defense, Ishchenko has a mental illness and a number of diagnoses related to mental health, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and schizoid personality disorder," according to the documents reviewed by RIA Novosti.
It is clarified that the defense insists on conducting an expert examination to establish disability. In mid-June, a court in St. Petersburg sent Ishchenko to a pre-trial detention center on charges of complicity in committing a terrorist act (part 3 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to investigators, Ishchenko was assigned via messenger to conduct reconnaissance of the facilities of the Leningrad Naval Base, took photos and text notes and handed them over to customers, who were representatives of Ukraine.
"Ishchenko admits guilt and does not dispute that he conducted intelligence, but his defense insists on reclassifying his actions from complicity in the commission of a terrorist act to participation in an extremist community," the materials specify.
Earlier, on December 9, it was reported that in the Belgorod region, a court sentenced 17 years in prison to a 58-year-old local resident who transmitted information about fortifications to the special services of Ukraine. According to investigators, the man, on the instructions of Ukrainian intelligence, collected and transmitted data on the location of fortifications and personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the border areas of the Belgorod region.
