In Moscow, an electric cable in the cable channels from the second to the tenth floor caught fire in an apartment building, 40 people were evacuated. This became known on October 14th.

"The gorenje is burning in the entrance of the electric cable in the cable ducts from the second to the tenth floors, the APS system (automatic fire alarm. – Ed.) did not work," the source told Izvestia.

The fire occurred at the address of SVAO Polyarnaya Street, 4, building 2.

It was noted that an operational headquarters had been set up to extinguish the fire and rescue residents, and additional forces had been called in. Some people were on balconies and could not get down on their own, emergency services evacuated residents to fresh air. A total of 40 people were evacuated.

The house was completely de-energized, and communication channels were extinguished from the 18th floor, the source added.

The fire covered 54 linear meters of cable from the second to the 18th floor. At the moment, the fire is localized. The apartments are still being checked and smoke is being removed from the entrance.

Earlier, on December 13, it was reported that a criminal case on causing death by negligence was initiated after the death of two children in a fire in an apartment building in the Tver region. It is noted that investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
