The farewell ceremony for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the DPRK Alexander Matsegora will take place on December 16 in Moscow. This was announced on December 13 by the Russian Embassy in the People's Republic on the Telegram channel.
"The farewell to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the DPRK A.I. Matsegora will take place on December 16, 2025 (Tuesday) at 11:00," the statement said.
The funeral event will be held in the Farewell Hall of the Central Clinical Hospital (CCB) at 25 Marshal Timoshenko Street.
The death of the diplomat became known on December 8. Throughout his career, Matsegora held various important positions. In 2014, Matsegora was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the DPRK.
The next day, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sent a telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed his deep condolences to the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang over the death of the Russian ambassador. On the same day, Putin called the death of the Russian ambassador to the DPRK Matsegora an irreparable loss.
