Moscow will take retaliatory measures to the decision of the European Union (EU) on the indefinite blocking of Russian assets. This was stated on December 13 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, whose words are quoted on the website.

"Our response actions will not be long in coming. A detailed statement on this issue was published by the Bank of Russia on December 12. Concrete steps are already being implemented," the publication says.

Zakharova stressed that disposing of Russia's sovereign assets without its consent — whether it's freezing them, seizing them, or trying to present the actual confiscation as a "reparation loan" — is illegal and grossly violates international law. According to her, Brussels' policy towards Moscow is devoid of logic and resembles a "theater of the absurd," and the course of harming Russia at any cost has already led to a deterioration of the economic situation in the EU itself.

It was also noted that the Bank of Russia has already filed a claim for damages caused by the actions of the European Union.
