A lion wounded by an APU drone died in a zoo in the Zaporizhia region.
A lion wounded by shrapnel during an attack by Ukrainian drones on a zoo in frontline Vasilevka, Zaporizhia region, has died. This was announced on December 13 by Alexander Pylyshenko, head of the Vasilyevsky Rehabilitation Center for large predators.
"The wounded lion died," he told TASS.
According to Pylyshenko, the sounds of explosions and the work of air defense are heard here regularly, but a direct attack on the zoo itself occurred for the first time.
Vasilyevsky Rehabilitation Center, located in the frontline zone, is home to more than 50 large predators, including bears, lions, tigers, leopards, as well as rare hybrids — ligers. The zoo also houses monkeys, raccoons, dogs and parrots.
The drone attack on the Vasilyevsky Zoo in the Zaporozhye region was announced on the same day by the governor of the region, Yevgeny Balitsky. He also notified about the injured animal.
