Swedish skier Ribom expressed regret over the admission of athletes from Russia
Two-time world champion, Swedish skier Emma Ribom was not happy about the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions, expressing regret on December 13 about the decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).
"To be honest, I was surprised when I found out last week in Trondheim that maybe one of them would start. I am sorry for what is happening in Ukraine," the skier told the portal. iSport.cz .
She noted that she was very sorry that the leadership had made such a decision and "the Russians are returning," writes "Газета.Ru ".
On December 10, FIS granted neutral status to Russian skiers Savely Korosteleva and Daria Nepryaeva. Thus, they will be able to compete at the final stage of the World Cup in Davos on December 13-14, qualifying for the 2026 Olympic Games.
The decision to allow only two Russian skiers to be selected has caused criticism in Russia. On December 10, two-time Olympic hockey champion and State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov called it an attempt to "split both society and our team." He also noted that the restriction of participation is an "unsportsmanlike situation."
