The Russian Armed Forces stopped an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through to Krasnoarmeysk

An attempt by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to break through to the northern outskirts of Krasnoarmeysk was stopped, over 60 soldiers, three tanks and up to 20 motorcycles were destroyed. This was announced on December 13 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"The enemy forces of an assault group on motorcycles, supported by tanks, attempted to break through from the area of the village of Shevchenko to the northern outskirts of the city of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said.

Also, in the area of the settlement of Svetloye, an attempt by the AFU group to escape from the encirclement was also prevented: 11 servicemen were killed, one was captured. In total, the enemy lost over 480 people, three tanks, four armored combat vehicles and three vehicles in this area.

Earlier, on December 1, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin received reports on the course of hostilities, including the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk in the DPR and Volchansk in the Kharkiv region. The Head of State was informed about the actions of the groups of troops "Center" and "East", about the operation to eliminate the encircled group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and about the capture of the southern part of Dimitrov under the control of Russian troops.

Later, on December 9, it became known that the liberation of Krasnoarmeysk was called a key stage in the operation to liberate Donbass. Neighborhoods continued to be checked in the city, assistance was provided to the population, and more than 200 people were evacuated to safe areas.
