The development of strategic cooperation with Russia remains one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ashgabat. This was reported on December 12 by the official newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan.
"The development of strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation remains one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy <...> The traditionally friendly relations between our countries are based on long—standing bonds of friendship, trust and mutual understanding," the newspaper quoted Berdimuhamedov as saying.
It is noted that special attention in the Turkmen-Russian relations is paid to the development of trade and economic ties, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Active partnership in the fields of science, education, healthcare and culture is noted in this direction.
Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's readiness for further comprehensive and multifaceted cooperation with the Russian Federation and expressed confidence in further strengthening relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries, the newspaper added.
On December 12, the Kremlin's press service announced the end of Putin's visit to Turkmenistan. The Russian leader said goodbye to his delegation at the airport.
