Rosaviatsia is working on equipping aircraft with terminals that will allow passengers to use the Internet on board. This was announced on December 13 by the head of the department Dmitry Yadrov.

"An important and interesting task that Bureau 1440 is currently solving. Ultimately, as part of the project to launch a low—orbit constellation, we are working with Russian manufacturers on equipping aircraft with special terminals that will allow passengers to provide Internet services on board," TASS quoted him as saying.

He noted that as a result of such modernization, it may be necessary to make changes to the aircraft design.

On November 12, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev announced that Russian companies are able to conduct full inspections of aircraft, including foreign ones, which are part of the fleet of domestic airlines. He noted that more than 1.1 thousand passenger liners are currently in operation in the Russian Federation. There are enough enterprises in the country to serve them.

Earlier, on October 8, Yadrov informed that work had begun on the issue of retrofitting Superjet passenger aircraft from Russian-French SaM146 engines to domestic PD-8 engines. To implement this initiative, it is necessary to complete its certification.
