The Ministry of Education recommended nine-day winter holidays for schoolchildren
Russian educational organizations are recommended to organize winter holidays from December 31, 2025 to January 11, 2026. This was announced on December 13 by the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
"Educational organizations are recommended to spend winter holidays in the period from December 31, 2025 to January 11, 2026," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The ministry clarified that the duration of winter holidays should be at least seven calendar days. At the same time, the federal academic calendar for students in grades 1-11 sets winter holidays after the end of the second quarter lasting nine calendar days.
Earlier, on November 5, Oleg Smolin, First Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education (KPRF), did not support the proposal to reduce school summer holidays. According to Smolin, the issue of child care and their safety during long holidays can be solved by organizing summer holidays in children's camps, and shortening the length of school holidays can adversely affect children's health.
