EU will not return frozen assets to Russia due to Europe's economic difficulties

The European Union (EU) will not give Russia assets blocked in Europe in order to "limit the damage" to its own economy. This was announced on December 12 on the website of the European Council.

"Today, the Council decided to temporarily ban any transfers of assets of the Central Bank of Russia blocked in the EU back to Russia. This decision was taken as a matter of urgency to limit the damage to the union's economy," the statement said.
