Muscovite suffered a heart attack due to an allergy to pork
A resident of Moscow had a heart attack after eating a piece of pork. The cause was a rare allergy-related syndrome. This was announced on December 12 by the press service of the Moscow Department of Health.
"The attack occurred immediately after eating and led to cardiogenic shock. This is a rare case of Konis syndrome of the first type," the department's Telegram channel says.
"The newspaper.Ru" writes that the man "previously knew about his allergy to pork, it manifested itself in the form of urticaria and did not cause serious problems," but one day after eating, the Muscovite suddenly became ill.
"The patient was taken by ambulance to GKB No. 15 with a diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome, cardiogenic shock. At the pre—hospital stage, the ambulance team made every effort to stabilize the patient's condition," the Department of Health said.
According to Maria Naumova, head of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care unit at Moscow Hospital No. 9, Konis syndrome is an acute coronary syndrome (for example, myocardial infarction, coronary artery spasm or unstable angina) caused by an allergic reaction. According to her, the symptoms can be masked, making it difficult to diagnose.
Candidate of Medical Sciences Sergey Popov reported on December 7 that patients with a heart attack may experience symptoms that are not typical of heart disease. According to him, among the atypical signs of a heart attack may be nausea, vomiting and cardiac arrhythmias that are not accompanied by pain.
