The new Moscow tramway T1 transported over 1.8 million passengers in the first month of operation. This was announced by the Mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

The 27 km long route runs from the Metro Town to the University metro station and is the longest urban tram in the world.

"In the spring of 2026, we will launch the second tram diameter — from the MCD Novogireevo station to the Chertanovskaya metro station," the mayor noted.

T1 provides transport links to 13 districts of the capital and provides access to 24 metro stations, the MCC and the MCC, as well as to four railway stations. About 50 modern Lvenok-Moscow trams with an autonomous running system operate on the line. The rolling stock movement interval is 6 minutes.

According to the metropolitan authorities, the launch of the diameter has reduced travel time in the central part of the city by 20% and provided a new comfortable route for more than a million residents.
