No country spends as much money on the maintenance of cultural facilities as Russia, but the funds allocated need to be distributed correctly so that they reach the regions. This was announced on December 12 by Nikolai Tsiskaridze, People's Artist of Russia, Rector of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.

He noted that the country's best theater establishments are located in two of its capitals — Moscow and St. Petersburg. But we need theaters to look good in the regions as well.

"I would like to see the highest level of theaters in our country everywhere. In fact, I've said this phrase many times — no country spends so much money on maintaining cultural facilities. It's just another matter that we need to approach this very scrupulously and allocate funds correctly," Tsiskaridze said at a press conference at the Rossiya Segodnya press center.

Tsikaridze recalled that the Vaganova Academy encourages Russian regions to sign agreements so that its ballet dancers can come on tour to other regions of the country.

"The governor [of the Chelyabinsk Region, Alexey] Texler, had a desire, he found this amount of money in his budget and brought the children, and showed two performances that were a huge success. <...> It's just that when a leading person has an interest, it happens. Unfortunately, everyone allocates their budget differently," he said.
