Russia and Turkmenistan have great prospects in increasing trade turnover. Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia on December 12.

He noted that Moscow and Ashgabat are actively cooperating in the fields of agriculture and mechanical engineering, as well as increasing trade and economic turnover. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the intergovernmental commission has outlined plans for the development of cooperation in other sectors.

"This also applies to transport development corridors through neighboring countries, including Turkmenistan. The possibility of ensuring the supply of products and the development of transport links with Pakistan and India. These are the areas that are also being discussed today," Novak explained.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov, said that relations between Russia and Turkmenistan are developing quite successfully in the spirit of friendship and good neighborliness. The Head of State noted that the two countries have a wide range of mutual interests in various fields.
